late late at night,
after the mattress monsters have tucked in
and bed bugs return to their burrows,
i venture out to a
far far fairytale,

follow follow the yellow brick road
through the towers of high-maintenance maidens
and dungeons of self-deprecating dragons,

sail sail the high seas
around the armadas of puerile pirates
and shoals of starstruck sirens,

claim claim the last of the uncharted cays,
pinpoint the plants of putrid petunias
and peel off their petals;
i offer a tribute to our
dying dying dreams.
